First Holy Communion

Well it was a wonderful day. She did great and felt very excited all day. Thanks for the well-wishes from everyone. That made the day even more special.

Georgia and Father Chris. We are losing Father Chris. This was his last mass with us. On Wednesday he will officially be the administrator at another parish so in his words this day was "bittersweet."

Finally the garden is in.

We've had such rain and cold that there was a span of a couple weeks where the garden was just impossible to get in. Well we finally did get things planted! You can see the soil is still very wet.
This will be the first garden that Emeline can partake in. She should enjoy watching it grow.

After we did the garden the girls helped me transplant a couple of houseplants that urgently needed bigger pots. Now that is done too, I've had it on my to-do-list for a while now.

Unpluggd Project - petal

The unplugged theme for this week was petal. We decided it would be fun to dissect a flower. The irises around here finally bloomed so we chose that flower to look at more closely.
When looking at them in a group they are breathtaking but when looking at the individual and it's parts I think it was even more so.
I found a flower anatomy worksheet that they used to label the parts and write definitions of those parts.

When we got inside they were pretty intrigued by what they found.

Here is the inside of our iris after the standard petals were removed. They thought the beards were quite funny and Emmy loved to touch their fuzziness.

For Emeline afterwards, we created a flower shop game. She played and played.

THEN, the big girls got in on the game after seeing how much fun little sis had. They soon realized that it wasn't as much fun as Em was making it out to be!

Brad's sister Kathy called and let us know that there were babies at the miniature horse farm that the kids visited last year. They were the most adorable tiny things. These two mamas were my favorites. Look at the baby!

This one loved attention. You had to be slow and quite but eventually they all warmed up to us.

This one was Georgia's favorite. It had one blue eye and one brown eye.

That is the owner kneeling down in the gray shirt. She and her husband were so hospitable. We were very thankful.

Look how small they are compared to Emmy. These were all about a month or a little more too.

This one was Josie's favorite but it was a little skittish. So was it's mommy.

I couldn't get enough. I just kept picturing a pretty matching pair pulling a little cart for me!!

Emeline's little baby doll had a diaper rash so she set right to fixing it!
That should take care of it!

Later she did it again -and some as you can see. Not sure what this will take care of.

A day in the Cape

Ooohh she's so tired.

We enjoyed a blustery day in the Cape this weekend. The parade happened to be a dud but it is exciting for littles no matter what.

My little Josie has VERY sensitive ears and decided these would keep her comfortable.

After the parade we headed down the block to visit the fish at the fisheries station. There is something about looking at marine life through a tank that is mesmerizing, I love it.

This picture looks a little scary but we all took a walk down the pier to explore a bit.

Ava said she saw a REAL BIG FISH?? Maybe!

To cap the wonderful day off Paul gave tours of the Lays truck! The kids loved it.
