An Alpaca Farm open house

We visited an Alpaca Farm this weekend. Here is Josie feeling the wool. It is sooo soft I couldn't believe it. The kids learned all about them.
Here is (I think Amigo) coming in for a close up. This is a full grown Alpaca- I was surprised. I thought they got a little bigger.

The Alpacas did tricks for us too. (If the kids could get them to cooperate.)

There were spinners there spinning the wool into yarn. It was very interesting. We even saw some of the merchandise made from Alpaca wool that was just beautiful. Ok- I'm sold - I would like an Alpaca farm.

This little goat amused the kids for quite a while. Georgia is taking the pictures but she and Josie eventually went in the pen to play with him.

...and there were kittens. One was the cutest I have ever seen. Stinky Brad wouldn't let me bring anything home. Ugh. Next time he won't be invited!!

Another Birthday!

Happy Birthday Russell. Look at that cake!

This big football player couldn't get his 12 candles out!
The girls made him many cards. Here he is reading them.

Georgia has practiced for a LONG time writing a song for Russell. Here she is - the big moment.

Georgia has a blog

Please someone check out georgia's blog . It is all I have heard about!!!!

Day 3
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7

Father,
The worries of each day are ever around us. Conflict, both within and without, threatens the peace we so desperately want and seek. Father, we come to You with and open heart, seeking Your guidance and being content with all that You have given us as a nation. Guard our hearts, O Lord, so that we will be faithful to You and let the peace of Your presence surround us each and every day.

40 DAYS FOR OUR COUNTRY

40 days until we elect another President. Father C. handed out a book titled "If My People.. A 40 Day Prayer Guide for Our Nation"

Day 1

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 CHRONICLES 7:14

Father,

We seek Your soverign blessing on our nation. Forgive us for our shortcomings and the times when we have failed You. Draw us back to Your love and strengthen us as a nation to serve and honor You in all that we do. May we forever be faithful to the calling that You have given us. We respectfully and humbly give thanks for Your continued blessing.

scarecrows, a bird, and a ride

Here are our scarecrows. The direction can be found at the same link, a couple of posts ago.
This beautiful blue heron was there to greet us as we drove over the bridge last night.

We finally went for another ride. The kids reeeeeaaallllyyy love it. They are in desperate need of a child's saddle.

Georgia likes to ride herself. Poor Jazz doesn't quite know what she is asking all the time. See her ears- "Georgia what do you want me to do?"

A baby shower!

We all (mom, Stacy, Jessie and I) went to a baby shower for a family friend. Here is Kerry, the mother to be, getting a lot of "help" from the little girls who love to help sooo much.
A nice smiley Kerry.

Elsie was perplexed by this mysterious sock which kept ending up here and there.

Brendan enjoyed making faces at me from afar. Here is is waving. Hi Aunt Jenny- keep your distance! No Brendan likes me!!
Emmy did NOT go to the party. What a rotten mother. If you haven't noticed it was held at the local library. Could you imagine Emeline? She would be recategorizing all afternoon!

Our latest

We made a really pretty craft that you must all make. It was easy and worth keeping! First you need to purchase some glass tea light or votive holders. Then you paint white glue around the outside. (Actually after purchasing the candle holders you should find some small leaves and press them in a book.) Directions are here.
We will make the paper bag scarecrow next.

Next glue your leaves on.
Then as they are drying you rip some tissue paper into 1-2 inch squares.

With equal parts water and glue you paint the pieces on your glass over the leaves.

After they dry (ours weren't fully dry) look what you end up with. They are really pretty. I can't wait to try it in the spring with pansies and violas. Wouldn't that be pretty?

Check out art class. Sculptures out of rock. I was actually quite impressed.

Pumpkins and Pilgrims!

We picked a few of our pumpkins yesterday. These ended up on our rock wall and down by the bridge I just forgot to take some pictures.
We may be getting a little ahead of ourselves but in Georgia's History "class" she learned about Separatists and how they called themselves Pilgrims. So, as you can see we made pilgrim hats of the female kind. Josie ran to the mirror and came back a little disappointed. She said it looks like she has a mailbox on her head.
The pattern can be found here
Little pilgrims digging for potatoes to eat for dinner.

We found a bucket full but I didn't get a picture of that either!
We have high-speed by the way. The computer has been on since this morning as we have tried out all the stuff we haven't been able to do till now. These pictures uploaded in less than 2 minutes I couldn't believe it!!! YAY.

An Awesome First Football Game

Russell warming up AND having a little pant problem I guess. (#69)
Here he is in the huddle. His coach pushed him out to play and said "Smash somebody!!"

The girls were prepared with signs to cheer their uncle on.

"Go TI, Go TI"

Russell's team was crushed but he came off the field with a smile. He did a great job. Here he is trying to look tough.

Joann don't laugh! AND Stacy my pig noses are showing!

Well here is my kindergartener! She is very proud of herself. No we are not one of those families that wears uniforms while we home school. Georgia wore uniforms to school and we dug some up so that I could have an official first day of school photo for Josie (like I did for Georgia). I have a couple more of her inside that are cute just can't find them right now.

Emeline proved to be a little difficult the first day. I discovered she just wanted to participate. So, I gave her a piece of paper and a pencil and she stood there for a good hour just babbling and writing away!

We searched for a craft to do online and found this cute paper angel at DLTK something or other.
Maybe www.dltk-kids.com

This is a nice aspect of home schooling. Georgia is my mommy's helper and she read Em right to sleep yesterday.
