Senora R, the woman whom so generously volunteered to teach the girls
Spanish, gave us some plantains. To be honest I had never seen them before. They are sort of like a banana but have a different
consistency and taste.

We fried them the same way you make fried bananas. You peel, slice and roll them in a flour/cinnamon mixture. Then you get a couple tablespoons of butter really hot in a frying pan and let them brown on each side.

I must admit the girls were
sooooo excited about tasting them but were a little thrown off by the taste. They were expecting a banana taste but instead they got a plantain taste - naturally!

They did eat them which isn't hard to imagine based on the buttery,
cinnamony exterior!
Fried plantains are sooo yummy! It's fun to try something new, isn't it? Same as you, I had never tasted one until someone introduced us to them. We had them at a friends house with this mango salsa. I remember they were hard to peel, but worth it! I never had them with cinnamon.. sounds so good!!
