Daddy decorated!

Daddy and the girls decorated the house while I was at school! Great job. The guy (as Emeline) calls him has a new head now. The balloon was too scary.

animal habitats

We have been learning about animal habitats and we found a great site with games to play.

Miniature Horses

The kids took a trip to visit some miniature horses. Ok, now I am hooked on these. They need one to drag around!

wooly bear saga

Emeline check this little critter out. It is fuzzy and cute isn't it? Ok now put it back, we have to go bye bye.
Maybe if I pretend to put it back mom won't realize that I still have it and then I can take it with me!

Emmy you still have that wooly bear.
"No"
You don't? It looks like you have it to me.

Ok Emmy it's time to put it back, we have to go bye bye.
Maybe if I run real fast mom won't be able to catch me. No that won't work. -I'll just run anyway.

Emmy DON'T EAT IT.
"Kisses"
Ok kiss it goodbye because we have to go.
I then took the caterpillar from her and she completely broke down. She loved it.
That stinky mom never lets me have any fun. I bet that thing tastes really good too.
(We have found fly parts in her mouth lately)
Now I'm mad. I'm going to climb up in here with the balls and sulk. That will make mom feel real bad. I won't even look her in the eye for a while too. I'll just pretend I don't even hear her. Mom, what mom!
Little twerp.

Church bulletin board

I am teaching Religious Education again this year so I elicited the help of Georgia and Josie in preparing my bulletin board for "open house" this weekend. Great work girls.

Spiders

We made some spider webs. First Jo made web with white crayon on black construction paper.
Then Georgia outlined the line with glue.

Then you pour glitter over your glue and shake it around. They came out neat. I see I didn't get a picture of the finished product. My fault.

Here are the girls with a spider label worksheet that they did on their own. They were soooo proud of themselves.
Em with a mouthful of cracker or something!

The makings of our Country

We are currently learning about the makings of our country. I found a series of books called "The Library of the Pilgrims" at our local library. They have really enhanced our learning, and the kids can't believe that they reveal the same things that their social studies book does. This was the latest. We read before this "The Pilgrims before the Mayflower" (something like that).
Keeping with the theme we got the paint out after the youngest was out of our hair and painted some pictures. I required them to do their own rendition of the Mayflower. We also took a tour of the Mayflower and journey of the Mayflower.

Day 14
We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of you love for all the saints.
COLOSSIANS 1:3-4
Father,
We humbly come before You and ask that Your Spirit reach across the lands to all who are hurting and spiritually lost. Restore their hearts with hope everlasting; comfort them with Your tender, loving arms. May we be sensitive to their needs, whether physical or spiritual, and be eager and willing to share Your love for them, just as you have bestowed Your love upon us.

Escaping!

WE JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW! What better way to learn an escape route right? In preparation we went over our address so it is down pat. Then we had some pretend phone calls to 911. After that we learned about fires and what they would be like, how to get "under" the smoke, check for hot doors, never go back in ... you know all that stuff. Then we had some scenarios "What if the fire was during the day?" "What if the fire was during the night and I couldn't get to you?" Well this is where jumping through the window came in!

Josie was soo scared. It is such a long way down.

But look! My suggestion let your kids jump out of their window this week. Mine thought it was the weirdest, wackiest, coolest thing EVER. Look at goofy Georgia.

Then we did some Stopping - Dropping- and Rolling ...

Of course this turned very quickly into lets roll over eachother. Poor emmy got smooshed. She enjoyed it though.

After Daddy came home from work we hooked up the wagon and went on a four-wheeler ride through the woods to check out the leaves. This is the only picture I got. Unfortunately I didn't even get the leaves. We went over a bump and it jerked my camera down. After that I just decided I had better hold on. The trails are pretty bumpy out there.

Free Blinkies

I know John will never see this but it's his birthday today.

Love you John and miss having you around little bro.

The Band

The girls had an easy day yesterday because I had to hit the books. I am taking a philosophy class. Just for your information this book will be sold at 8:30 Nov. 5 (the second the class is over) for a fair price to the first buyer. Don't tent out at my house or anything though!

I'm kidding - it's a very interesting class.

While I studied the kids started up the band again. They have a fledgling guitarist, a really cute lead singer and....

a crazy, wild and somewhat frightening drummer.

Day 7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. JOHN 15: 7-8
Lord,
We as a people have become self-absorbed and busy with activities that bring temporal value. Help us turn our hearts back to You and Your Word so our nation will bear the fruit of righteousness and be set above all other nations! Strengthen us with the power of Your Spirit in our inner being as we strive to abide in You and continue in faith that You will do more for us than we could ever imagine.

Emmy got her blood drawn.

Poor poor Em had to have her blood tested for lead (NYS rules). As you can see she really didn't like it at all. We were lucky to have Brad with us to tie ( did I say tie) I meant gently hold her down.
She really couln't stand this darn sticky band-aid either.

Day 6
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." MATTHEW 28: 19-20
Lord,
You have commanded us to make disciples of all nations-may we begin within our own hearts! You are the way, the truth, and the life, and we thank you for Your promise to be with us always. Give us sincerity of heart and unfailing courage to spread this good news, whether with our neighbors across the street or with lost souls across the earth. We trust You to work through us-without You we can do nothing!
