Birthday Parties

We gathered at Jessie and Matt's this weekend to celebrate Mom and Theresa's birthdays. The little girls love to get together.
Margie Sue rode Thundercap, Elsie and Sam's horse.
Go Margie Go!
We took a peek at Matt's handiwork. Very nice Matt.
By the way I emailed these to your Realtor because they really should have been shown with all of the other pictures on the sales page! Just doing you a favor!!
Johnny made it up. It was so very nice to see you John.

The birthday girls.
We sang to Tracy because her birthday was recently as well.

I'm not so sure Sam knew what to make of John. His arm is on fire, he has a grenade on his upper arm and some weird sharp pointy thing coming out of his bottom lip. I can see your point of view Sam!
Lots of laughs.

Some big brothers put little brothers in there place. I think Russell should have been flopping John on the floor though.
Can you find Sam under all that lasagna?

We discovered that there were a LOT of feet in Jessie's little house! Thanks for hosting Jessie. Sorry you were feeling under the weather Stacy. We really missed you. We missed you too Matt. (He got called to a spill as we were pulling into the driveway) Hope to see you again real soon John and Theresa. Thanks for making the trip up!
xoxo
Whoops thought I was done. I can't leave out this cutie riding Thundercap.

Oh I'm just kidding. What I really meant to say is...

St. Patrick's Day

Well another St. Patrick's day is here. We decided to do some rainbows this year (thanks to Elsie Rae!). I incorporated an art lesson along with it. We used only primary colors to mix and make all of our rainbow colors. Georgia made a good observation :"There is a pattern of the colors. It goes primary, secondary, primary secondary." Good job Georgia. Do you know why? "The primary colors must mix to make the secondary."
While we waited for our rainbows to dry I mixed up some pudding. Some sneaky leprechaun made some magic because when they stirred ...
It turned green. Uuuuggghhh.
So exciting.
I want the pots of gold.
Emmy's rainbow. Happy Day to you!

Sights of Spring Stroll

We took a sights of spring stroll a couple of days ago. How can you have school inside with weather like this? Of course the girls had to go down to the creek. We had stick races under the bridge and they played "let's see if we can get water into Emmy's boots by making her walk in deep water".
Our creek turns into this a little ways away.

A nice picnic spot!
When daddy came home we took another walk! Look at that little squirt Margie Sue.
She saw mom coming and let go and started running toward me.
I don't want these days to end!

Looking at the Sky on Friday

These pictures were taken within a few minutes of each other Thursday morning.
I just live the sunrise. We have had WONDERFULLY unseasonably warm weather lately. This turned into another sunny day in the 50s!
The house was quiet and I thought I heard some geese so I ran to the window. What a welcome sign of spring on the horizon!
For more pictures of the sky check out CrAzY Working Mom -and play along too!

pretzels

We made some pretzels as suggested by the Holy Heroes crew.
They loved rolling in the flour.

Emmy's mess was genuine. Now how is that possible? Her pretzels really got worked over let me tell you. If you had one and it was extra chewy, you knew right away who made it!!

a tooth fairy visit

Josie FINALLY lost a tooth! It has been a long time coming. She has been saying for months (which those months could have very easily stretched into a year now!) "I think this tooth is wiggly" but it never has been.
Finally, Josie, you have joined the ranks of those whom have lost a tooth.
CONGRATULATIONS!
(and thanks dad for pulling it out!)

The skating finale

We took the kids skating for one last winter hurrah. They stink!
From left to right - Russell, Georgia, Josie, Me and Emeline. Emmy was brave. She kept telling me she didn't need the balancer and actually was able to walk around without it a few times. Georgia has NO ankle strength and she looks like her legs are going to brake in two all the while. Josie used the balancer but was able to turn it loose and go pretty fast on occasion. She lacked the courage to try it without. Russell wasn't that bad although he did take a few hard tumbles!

Brad's A-plus photography. Anyone interested in hiring him?

I turned on my jets too and Emeline sailed from end to end. I was skating in hockey skates for the first time. The first thing I did was try to use the grippers on my toe (like a figure skate has). I quickly learned, after getting up close and personal with the ice, that hockey skates have no little toe grippers!

Emmy loved it!
