This little one will be LOVED!

Margie Sue with a sleepy look.
Her sisters kept her busy yesterday. She isn't really smiling yet but they kept saying "Her first smile" "Her second smile" "Her third smile!" ...

She liked the attention and stayed awake for them for quite a while.
She even heard some springtime stories. Georgia read one and then Josie read one. Emeline just keeps asking to kiss her. It looks like she is going in for another one here! She is certainly a very loved little girl.

LA on Broadway

The LA on Broadway show is this weekend!!
Georgia has been practicing hard throughout the whole month of March in preparation for this weekend. I'm so proud of her. Daddy and Josie went to see her last night and said she did great. She is singing songs from different Broadway shows. She was a little chicken to do something by herself this year - maybe next year. Mommy REALLY feels bummed that she couldn't go to see the shows and participate in the action this year. (It is something that I look forward to all year.)
One more performance this afternoon. Break a leg Georgia!!

Margie Sue wrapped snug as a bug in a rug in a BEAUTIFUL (love this pattern Joann) baby blanket that Aunt Joann sent her way. A lot of love went into those stitches - I know. Thank you Joann. I will have to post a shot of it where you can see the pattern better. It has hearts stitched right in.
Brad was finally able to get the food pantry items from Georgia's birthday party to the pantry today. It is only open on Saturdays (so we thought) and it seems every Saturday morning has been busy between First Communion classes and bad weather. Finally it is there! Thank you everyone for donating. It makes the kids feel real important and special.

What a horrible thing for a mommy to post huh? Woe is her!! I have never heard a cry such as hers. It sounds like she is in the depths of despair. I wanted to share / record it before it changes!

The unveiling of my Margie Sue!!

Well here is my fourth little princess. Miss Margie Sue. She was 20 1/2 inches and 7lb 5 oz. She arrived March 25th at 4:32 a.m. Labor and delivery went pretty easily and I just feel blessed to have another little girl to raise.
Here she is right after birth. Poor girl had it rough.
Daddy admiring his angel girl.
Now it's mommy's turn. She is pretty cute I must admit.

The siblings were VERY eager to see the long awaited Margie.
"Margie came out! Margie came out" Emmy kept saying. She also said over and over "I'm a big sister!" Maybe the adjustment will be ok after all!!! ?? No I spoke too soon last night. Emeline really wanted and needed some snuggle time last night. Margie slept GREAT but Emmy woke up and just needed to be held.

Here she is Day 2! I LOVE HER SO MUCH IT DRIVES ME NUTS. Just had to get that out!!
I will post more later. Thanks for thinking of us. Jessie the lasagna was delicious and it was such a help. Thank you so much.
xoxo Jenny

Homemade butter

One of the things we have been wanting to try for a while now is making our own butter. We are now reading Farmer Boy from the Little House series and I thought it would be a good time to try our hands at making some homemade butter. Here is our cream all ready to be shaken up.
They were all raring to go. Georgia started us off.
Then she passed it on to Josie...
...who then passed it on to Emeline. Emmy has a very serious shaking cream face.
After about 5-10 minutes we started noticing something!!
This was close to 15 minutes (I think). The whey is separating from the butter.
Almost immediately the curds separated from the whey even more.
Boy did they get tired of shaking.
Come on Georgia bring us home!
After we poured off the buttermilk we rinsed the rest of our butter in a bowl.
We kept smooshing it around and pouring it off until the water was clear.
Yippee!! We did it!!
We had to try it right away so we had some toast with homemade butter. I wish I had thought of it sooner and I would have made some homemade bread to go with it.
We did add a little salt. It was really yummy and a bit sweet.
Emeline enjoyed hers!!! (so did her chin)
Gentle Lord, I offer you my heart this day. Stir within it the fire of your Spirit, so that all I do will be a work of love.
Today's suggested penance: Prayerfully make a list of the greatest desires of your heart.

Gymanstic fun

I dropped the kids off at "dad's school" while I had a doctors appt. the other day and now they are into a gymnastic unit. Georgia wasn't dressed very appropriately but that didn't stop her.
Georgia on the parallel bars. I think she had a LOT of fun playing around. When the kids came in she even followed groups around and participated with them.
Daddy had some papers taped up at each station to tell the kids what to do. Georgia is reading up on some balance beam skills while trying to do them!
Georgia you are so graceful doing your balance beam routine.
Wee Emmy.
Georgia crept up the wall to practice a hand stand.
No shots of Josie doing anything but this. She complained that her ear ached. Thankfully it didn't amount to anything and once again we are all healthy.
These mats are used to aid kids in doing cartwheels. Emeline liked to climb up and run/jump off.
Emeline loved to balance. Good job Emmy. Mommy REALLY wished she could tumble and flip around!!
Dear Lord, help me to embrace every opportunity that you offer me in Lend - whether chosen or not - to experience my poverty and helplessness, that I may approach you with a simple faith and total trust.
Today's suggested penance: Pray the rosary with the intention to renew your Marian devotion.

MORE weather experiments!

It started raining a couple of days ago so we quickly made a rain gauge.
Here is Georgia trying to find a good place to put it. It only sprinkled so it didn't work this time.

We made it rain inside though.
MATERIALS:
glass mayonnaise or canning jar
plate
hot water
ice cubes
index cards
PROCESS:
Pour about two inches of very hot water into the glass jar.
Cover the jar with the plate and wait a few minutes before you start the next step.
Put the ice cubes on the plate.

It took a while but it did indeed rain. Unfortunately the girls weren't very impressed.
When I told them we were going to make it rain indoors I gave them the wrong idea. Both of them started to jump up and down and asked if they could get their rain coats on! The little drips in the jar, therefore were kind of a let down after that image.
Lord, help me to make a good examination of conscience and a good confession.
Today's suggested penance: Console someone who is grieving.

Emeline got to put in a bean!!

Emeline picked up her dominos without being told and she got to put in a bean. We have kept a vase on the counter and whenever one of the kids makes a sacrifice (or does something good) they get to put in a bean. Emeline was thrilled to do this as you can see. She thinks putting a bean in is a REAL big deal!! This was a suggestion from our Lenten Adventure crew. We have many sacrifices to go before the beans turn into jelly beans on Easter! Hope you are having a blessed Lenten season.
Almighty, everlasting God, who have commanded us to love you perfectly: give me the grace and the help, I beseech you, to do what I cannot do without you. Reveal your love for me to my heart and draw me to yourself.
Today's suggested penance: Fast from television or some other amusement.

air does push and air carries water

As another couple of introductory experiments we learned that air really does have a push on us. This experiment proved that.
They could feel the air pushing the paper before they were easily able to pick it up.

Then they discovered that salt on a plastic lid can easily be shaken around until

it makes contact with some warm moist air.

They couldn't shake it. I think they like to do this sort of stuff even though I was told by both big girls on two different occasions, without the other knowing the other told me even -"we do wayyy to many experiments". They keep smiling??!
I realize that I posted Thursday's reflection yesterday so this was Wed's.
May you be for ever praised, O Lord, for the wisdom that guides your love. Love me so that you may love me all the more. Love me to the end.
Today's suggested penance: Clean up someone else's mess.
