Hoops for Heart

We watched Dad play some basketball Friday. He played in his annual Hoops for Heart tournament that he organizes at the school. The tournament raises money for the American Heart Association.
Running the offense.

Georgia kept score. She did AWESOME. She really stepped up to the plate and didn't even make a mistake. I think she's hired.
Dear Jesus, grant us the grace to experience the compassion with which you look upon us, that we might hear your call and follow your will.
Today's suggested penance: Pray today for those condemned by others.

warm air / cool air experiment

We are in the preparatory stages of started a unit on weather. I found an experiment about warm air and cool air that explained to the kids that warm air rises and cool air doesn't creating our winds.
Sure enough our spiral tissue paper began to spin over the warm light bulb but didn't over the cool one.
(Don't you just love Jo's expression in each picture?)

Blessed Lord, we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Today's suggested penance. Skip a meal or part of one.

squishy bags

We made some squishy bags for Emeline. She loves them. Here she has a bag of rice, cream of wheat and lentils. (Whoever brought lentils for the food pantry at Georgia's party- this is not the bag. I had some in the cupboard. Just wanted to make that clear!!)
See how much she loves them!
I didn't have anything in excess that was wet but I did find a bruised up banana that noone wanted to eat. We double bagged that and decided to see what would happen.
At first she was hesitant.
Then she mashed it a little.
Finally she went to town.
We have decided she will be our baby food masher for the wee one when she arrives.
Jesus, let me say yes to you today, not because I feel you but because I know you are with me.
Today's suggested penance: Offer you day for the intentions of another person whose name you keep in mind all day.
could be you!!

Mardi Gras celebration

My Georgia at her birth minute yesterday morning!
We had a little Mardi Gras parade yesterday and to prepare for our parade we made masks with the help of DLTK-Kids. Emeline was most excited to use markers that she normally isn't allowed to touch. They say washable but someone made a mistake because they aren't!

Josie making a great mask.
Georgia's very intricate design.
Abracadabra here they are. Awesome huh?

I love yours Emmy. I glued the template onto a Honey Bunches of Oats cereal box and most of the time that is the side that she displayed. I did get one snap of her decorated side.
Ash Wednesday
Father, let not my piety be my snare. Let my sin be ever before my eyes, that I may rely wholly on your goodness, and never my own; through Christ our Lord, amen.
Spend fifteen minutes or more praying the holy name of Jesus.

Josie LOVES her spaghetti.

"Just smile Josie, you don't have anything on your face...I just want to take a picture of my pretty little Josie."
Does this picture prove just how much Josie LOVES her spaghetti?

Sam is home!!

I hadn't heard until about an hour ago that Jessie and Sam were home. Yay!! They go back at 8 in the morning to make sure everything is going ok but what a relief!!

Georgia's birthday party!

My Georgia can't be almost 8! We celebrated with family yesterday. She decided she wanted four layer chocolate delight for her cake. I wanted to take the opportunity to share an awesome cake that my cousin Becky made. Check it out. We NEED that pan!!

Georgia, Ava and Josie. The three amigos.
Grandma B., Rick and Grandma G. visiting.
Uncle Richard, cousins Matt and Corey and Daddy.
Russell in the dog house.
Brendan and Emeline played nicely together at times!!
Brendan found the closest thing to a truck in the girls girly playroom.
Georgia reading her cards.
Grandma and Emmy.
The three girls after the party. Georgia asked for a small gift and then food for the food pantry. She ended up with quite the haul!! Look at all the food!!!!!!!!!!! We can't wait to deliver it. Maybe they will let her stock the shelves again.
We missed having Jessie, Matt and family. Jessie and Sam are still in the hospital. Sorry I have no update but there are some pictures on Stacy's blog from her visit with Jessie and Sam a couple of days ago. There was no update as of last evening. Things were still the same.

Elsie's visit

While Jessie took Samuel to the doctors yesterday we had the honor of watching Elsie Rae. She REALLY enjoyed feeding Bandit some crust scraps from sandwiches.

Bandit even got a kiss afterwards.
Another update on Samuel. I just got off the phone with Mom and she said that he definitely has pneumonia. SO, with that said he really needs even more prayers sent his way!

Jessie and Samuel

Just to let everyone know, Jessie and Samuel are once again in the hospital. Baby Samuel is the patient with RSV. The last I heard he is doing fine. They are giving him fluids through IV and are basically monitoring him. He and Jessie (and Matt and Elsie) need some prayers. Jessie and Matt have had quite the start to their 2009 and it simply needs to get better for them. I'm sure they are both just plain exhausted and sick of being so interrupted and worried.

Just a few pics

Em thinking she is a beauty queen with her hair clip.
Some visitors right outside our window.
We were finally able to have Valentine's Day dinner a couple of nights ago. On Saturday Brad got called in to work at 8:30 in the morning and didn't get back until 7:30 at night. The town has had a lot of problems and he has worked his whole vacation (except yesterday) so far. Here are the girls salivating over their chocolate fudge cake and sparkling juice!

update

Georgia and Josie have a very nice post about Presidents day. Be sure to visit their site.

Lenten Adventure

It is time to register if interested.

A little chocolate in the eye is all.

Daddy treated his girls to a box of chocolates for Valentines Day. I was just looking over my pictures and noticed the one below.
I guess all of her senses wanted a "taste". Right now Em is right here flipping out saying "Oh no, out, out handy (candy) out eye". She can't explain it either.

handprint hearts

We made handprint hearts for Valentine's day this year. The girls think it is such a treat to get their hands painted.
Emeline didn't mind getting dirty today but she did make this face over and over.

There was a request to see my tummy... this is all you're going to get!! :)
I'm 34 weeks now and it seems like an eternity to go!! Some of us don't get to skip the ultra-uncomfortable final month (Jessie).

The result. I'm not quite finished with them yet. I think I am going to outline them, cut them out and make a collage of some sort.
XOXO to you all!
